The final conference of SCEr project “European Cooperative Societies (SCEr)” will be held on the 29th of January 2014 from 9.00 till 17.30 in Brussels (Copa-Cogeca, Rue de Trèves, 61 – Room A).
On this occasion, the consortium of partners will present the results of this very interesting and innovative project on social economy and European cooperatives.
For 16 months, the consortium of partners have been investigating the co-operative societies registered under EU legislation, referred to as SCEs. The legislation, which has been in place since 2006, is divided into two parts. Firstly, the Council Regulation 1435/2003 on the Statute for a European Cooperative Society provides the legal framework for the registration of SCEs within the EU Member States. Secondly, the Council Directive 2003/72/EC provides the involvement of employees, under certain circumstances, in the governance of the SCE.
The specific focus of this project is the implementation of the requirements under the Directive, including an assessment of good practices on employee involvement at both the national and transnational level. The project, therefore, has provided an overview of the European ‘legislative’ experience on SCEs in relation to the roles played by the various actors involved (employees, trade unions, managers, shareholders, etc).
The SCEr ' conference will also be a networking opportunity to meet our European partners and to share your experience. Please find attached the agenda.
